This week’s Late Late Show is set to look a little different than we’re used to, as this Friday will be a special dedicated to Bob Geldof ahead of his 70th birthday.
To celebrate the occasion the singer and philanthropist will be joined by his wife Jeanne, children Pixie and Tiger and his sister Lynn.
It will begin by chronicling Bob’s life achievements from his singing career with The Boomtown Rats, to his impressive charity work through the years like Live Aid and Band Aid.
On the night there will of course be music from The Boomtown Rats, Midge Ure, Andrea Corr and Imelda May as well as some virtual birthday messages from stars across the globe including Tony Blair, Van Morrisson, Sting and Ringo Starr.
To top off the show, Ireland’s President Michael D Higgins will be sharing a special birthday message to the star, as well as Mary Robinson who will speak about her own relationship with Bob and his vital tole as a humanitarian.
Tune in this Friday at the usual time of 9.35pm on RTÉ One.
