The Young Offenders season three to be “the best yet”

The Young Offenders is due back on our screens later this month with the cast describing it as “the best one yet.”

The second season ended with Cork troublemaker Jock and his girlfriend Siobhan, becoming parents for the first time. This season will follow them as they navigate life as parents, which knowing the show, is sure to be hilarious.

Star of the show, Hillary Rose has revealed why she thinks the show is so popular; “I think that’s what keeps the audience coming back every time is that you have these really slapstick, brilliant characters that are in this world but the world is very very real.”

“And also they always go on these kind of wild goose chases but at the same time it always seems to be for the greater good,” she added.

“They’re always trying to help somebody. So that I think kind of endears an audience and keeps the audience with them the whole time. It keeps you laughing and crying.”

Peter Foott, creator of the show, has said, “We really hope viewers enjoy this third series which we are very proud of. Given that it has been a very difficult time for so many over the last few months, we hope that the series will bring a smile to our audiences faces when it’s most needed.

“The whole team are really excited to have everyone see the new series, it was a labour of love for all our amazing cast and crew.”

Justin Healy, RTÉ Comedy, added: “It is so great to see the series build year on year, driven by exceptional Irish talent in front of and behind the camera.”

Catch the show, Friday July 24th, at 9.35pm.
