Simon Cowell has opened up about the real reason why Dermot O’Leary was axed from the popular talent show last year, revealing that it was all down to a big misunderstanding.
The music mogul admitted that the pair had a meeting; Simon thought he wanted to leave the show, while apparently Dermot thought it was Simon who wanted him gone.
Speaking to the Mirror, Simon said, “He came out to see me in Los Angeles.
“I think there was probably a misunderstanding. I thought he wanted to go and he probably thought I wanted him to leave.
“Neither of us, being stubborn, spoke to each other and then we realised that we missed him.”
So there you have it, it was simply a case of miscommunication. We’re delighted they’ve sorted it out for this year.
Speaking about his return to the show, Dermot has previously said, “I’m very flatted to be asked back to the X Factor.
“There is nothing more exciting than hosting live tv on a Saturday night.”
