Soccer sensation Stephanie Roche has revealed her “shock” that the Houston Dash US soccer team have ended their contract with her after a mere three months
The Irish footballer barely touched down in The US where she was hoping to pursue her dream, but the club announced yesterday that they would be ending their relationship prematurely.
Stephanie was supposed to be with the club for at least a year, but Houston Dash said they needed to let her go to clear the roster for other international players.
Speaking to The Independent, the Dubliner admitted that she was shocked by the news and still getting to grips with their decision.
“It was a big shock, I was really enjoying it here. The manager liked me and told me I was one of the best finishers at the club. I didn’t see it coming at all. I am shocked and disappointed.”
The soccer star also revealed that she immediately thought about her family when she first received the news.
“My family booked flights for August. The first thing I thought of was I hope they can change the flights.”
Stephanie made waves back in January when she was nominated for an award at The FIFA Goal Of The Year ceremony.
The sporting talent was up against footballing legends Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who were photographed admiring her gorgeous Helen Coady dress at the awards.
We’re sure there will be plenty of other clubs both home and away that will be happy to snatch up Stephanie after this minor set back.
