The 2 Johnnies were one of the many 2FM presenters to leave the station in 2024.

Jennifer Zamparelli, Doireann Garrihy (at the time) and Donncha O’Callaghan all announced their departure within a handful of months of each other, along with the two lads.

Now The 2 Johnnies have shared how life has changed after hanging up their radio mics.

“I think we’re happier. I don’t know about 2FM, but we’re definitely happier,” Johnny Smacks revealed.

“We have other things we wanted to do; we’ve grown our podcast massively, we were number two in the UK a couple of weeks ago.

“We’ve released an album that went to number one, we sold out the 3Arena, 20,000 people in St Anne’s Park.”

They would be returning to our screens for the latest season of Late Night Lock In.

Speaking to the RTÉ Guide, they explained that they “look at those days fondly” and are grateful for their time on air.

Johnny B added: “We’re just having so much craic doing what we’re doing and we find time to enjoy life.

“Most of what we’re doing isn’t tiring, it’s energising. We’ve added more people to the team, so we’re better set up now.

“I spend a lot of time walking my dog in the evenings. We’ve structured ourselves to save energy for the things that only we can do.”

Of course, the lads are very proud of their hard work, as they should be.

Johnny Smacks admitted: “When people stop you for a photo or to chat, that’s lovely. It means they like what you do. We were long enough working when no one cared, so it’s nice to be appreciated.”
