The late Stephen Gately’s father, Martin Gately, passed away earlier this week.
The Boyzone star’s father died suddenly on Wednesday, March 22nd, at home, only five days after what would have been Stephen’s 41st birthday on March 17th.
Martin and his wife Margaret reconciled with their son Stephen in 2008, after a prolonged estrangement, just before his untimely death in October 2009 from an undiagnosed heart condition.
Martin’s funeral mass was held this morning at St Laurence O’Toole Church on Seville Place.
He is remembered by his wife Margaret and his children Mark, Michelle, Alan and Tony.
