Stephanie Kelly is here to make her mark on Dancing with the Stars.

The Fair City star and her pro-partner, Ervinas Merfeldas received a respectable score of 19 from the judges.

And she’s hoping to improve on that this weekend as she is fulfiling a childhood dream.

Britney Spears superfan, Stephanie says she is “buzzing” to dance a Cha-cha-cha to I’m a Slave 4 U. And we’re buzzing to see it.

Speaking to VIP Magazine, Stephanie admits that she feels like her years on Fair City have prepped her for the fast pace of DWTS.

“We are filming so many scenes week after week and I have been in the show now on and off for 15 years so there is a very quick turn around of memorise forget, so the fact there is a different dance each week it will help me,” she tells us.

“The American Smooth is gone out of my brain, because once you film one week in Fair City, you have to forget and move onto the next. I actually feel like my long-term memory is damaged from all the years of learning and forgetting so quickly.”

That’s not the only help that Fair City has given her on the dance show, as she got some advice from her co-stars.

“Ryan Andrews is a good friend of mine and he came with me one day when I was filming and said the producers of Dancing with the Stars are looking for your phone number will I give it to them, and I said sure go ahead I am never one to say no, I am quite a yes person, I just said yes and if they wanted me they wanted me but if the universe decided, then the universe decided.”

Although she admits: “I was conscious of the fact I had some weeks coming up in January and February in Fair City and I was wondering if I could do both, but the producers in Fair City were happy with me to do it and I was happy double jobbing so, its not too much work so far.

“Its been fun, I thought it would be more gruesome or something, I never did dance before not even as a kid when you would go to dance groups, so I was thinking that it would be really hard, but its been good all the team in Dancing with the Stars and the professionals make it really fun and make the journey really enjoyable for us.”

She jokes that “Ervinas will have to come on set during my lunch break in RTÉ” for practice.

“We are trying to figure it all out, and we all have different schedules and different routines, and journeys, so we all just do what suits,” she adds.

Dancing with the Stars airs Sundays at 6:30pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player
