Matt Damon fans including Tv3’s Peter O Riordan and his stunning wife Stephanie, Rory O Neill aka Panti as well as model January Russell and Siobhan O Connor were out in force at The Savoy Cinema in O Connell Street, Dublin last night for the Irish Premiere of his latest offering “The Martian”.
In the film, Damon plays astronaut Mark Watney, who is presumed dead during a manned NASA mission to Mars after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
Meanwhile, back on Earth, members of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring him home, while his crew mates hatch their own plan for a daring rescue mission.
The film is based on a best-selling novel, and helmed by master director Ridley Scott with actors including Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Sean Bean, Donald Glover and Mackenzie Davis.
Meanwhile, Xpose’s Glenda Gilson managed to nab a selfie with the star of the movie while covering the European premiere in London.
