Siva Kaneswaran is plenty used to rocking out on stage, but now the Dubliner is rocking out on the rink as he takes part in this year’s Dancing On Ice. Of course, he is receiving plenty of support, with even legendary musician Brian May of Queen rooting for The Wanted star.

This week Siva and his pro-skater partner Klabera Komini took to the ice, performing a rock routine to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Brian was absolutely thrilled to see them skating to one of his songs, sending a video of support to the boy band star.

In the sweet video Brian said: “Siva, you are the wanted, you are the wizard, you are the icon on ice, Bohemian Rhapsody, you’re going to smash it, go buddy.”

And he was absolutely right!

Siva and Klabera really impressed the judges with their routine, earning 26.5 points.

The singer was stunned by Brian’s message.

“What a legend, I’m speechless,” he said.

Also there showing his support for Siva was The Wanted bandmate, Nathan Sykes, who was watching on in the audience.

Judge Ashley Banjo said of Siva and Klabera’s routine: “Siva listen I’m going to start by saying this, I really, really, wanted to score you higher this week. Because from a skating perspective I did not expect that! Honestly so much more content! It just felt like you just gave us so much more so well done for that.”

“But for me, it was just too much thinking, I think the nerves got you a little bit out there on the ice and if you can take that skate and perform it, it’s like a whole point higher. So just keep pushing, thank you.”

While Christopher Dean told the 34-year-old: “You’ve got some really good technique in there but what I want to see is the transitions from one move to the next.”

Continuing: “What I see is you do something and then we move on to the next time we do something, I want to see that seamlessly, I want to see you attacking, get over the ice, power it up because you occupy the ice so travel over it, go fast!”

Judge Oti Mabuse was very impressed with Siva, sharing: “When I watch you, I watch someone who really is trying hard. God someone who’s never skated before, never moved before, but is the A-Plus student and for me I’ll give you a massive round of applause for that because that’s incredible. It’s so dangerous, it’s so difficult, but you still came out there and performed 100 per cent, that’s what I loved about it.”

Meanwhile Jayne Torvill said: “all the skating skills are there, but as Chris said it’s the transitions. Because you finish one move and we can see you thinking about the next one. But please don’t think about it, because you can do it.”

Siva and Klabera’s 26.5 score was an improvement from week one. Where they earned earn 24 points during their performance to Duran Duran’s Rio.
