Sinead O’Connor has opened up about returning to college in order to study as a healthcare assistant, saying that she is ‘very excited’.
Taking to Twitter, Sinead explained that she will be starting her course in the coming weeks. She also revealed that she plans on working as a healthcare assistant between albums and tours, assuring fans that she would continue to create music.
The full tweet read, “Very excited to be starting college in a few weeks : ) Fetac Level 5 Healthcare Support. Am still gonna be a singer but am gonna work as a healthcare assistant when I’m between albums and tours.”
This comes after Sinead revealed on The Late Late Show that she wants to join the frontline as a palliative care worker. “I have been accepted to do the course in Bray Institute of Further Education in September.
“It means you have a diploma and you can work as a healthcare assistant. The area that I want to work in particular is hospice palliative care.”
Sinead continued, “The area that I would like to work most in is companioning people who for one reason or another don’t have family around or are on their own.
“Obviously the Covid thing gave me more thought for what do I want to do with my life. If I had taken this course two years ago but touring got in the way I could have been out working and helping people which I would have liked to have been doing.
“If I get my diploma I would be able to work on the frontline myself which I would like to do.”
