Kneecap really cemented their space not only in the music world but in the film industry as well.
The Irish rap group have been one of the leading forces in getting more people to relearn our native language.
They’re cheeky humour has landed them a loyal fanbase not just here in Ireland but further abroad.
They’ve won awards at the BAFTAs, IFTAs and Sundance, they were nominated for a Critics Choice Award as well as being longlisted at the Oscars.
Speaking on the IFTA red carpet, Kneecap actress Simone Kirby enthused about the reception to the film both at home and further afield.
“It’s been amazing. It’s been such a surprise at every turn, how internationally, everyone really embraced it. I thought that the Irish would be the only ones to get it, especially the Irish-speaking crowd. But everyone across the world has really got it,” she gushed as she walked the red carpet.
While the boys didn’t end up picking up an acting award on the night, they certainly impressed themselves on Hollywood. So could we see the boys back on our screens soon?
“I don’t know if they’ll have time to do anything else. They’re doing so well at the minute,” Simone laughs but says she could see them continuing on this wave.
