Ireland AM host Simon Delaney is leaving the show after seven years.
Announcing the news on this morning’s episode, Simon explained to his co-hosts Elaine Crowley and guest presenter Killian O’Sullivan, that he has many projects in the works, meaning he will have to step back from his presenting duties.
Explaining: “I’m going to be filming for a movie in a couple of weeks, then have a couple of weeks off and then I’m doing another bit of filming which means I’m going to be stepping away from Ireland AM.”
“I’m here for [this] weekend, so you can’t get rid of me that easily.”
When asked if he could give any details on his new projects, Simon revealed that he will have to keep a tight lid on things for now.
Saying: “I can’t really. They are two great jobs but you will be the first people to know [about them].”
His co-host were quick to share just how much he will be missed. With Killian confessing: “I’m going to miss you though.”
While Elaine gushed: “You’re the best co-host I ever had.” With Simon quickly returning the praise, telling Elaine: “You’re the best co-host I ever had.”
Fans don’t have to say goodbye just yet, as Simon has one weekend left on the show.
Saying: “I’m here Saturday and Sunday too.” With Sunday being his final episode.
Simon joined the show seven years ago, and during that time worked with Anna Daly, Laura Woods and Aidan Power.
