Síle Seoige wants to be “mindful” of other women when posting pregnancy content

The broadcaster took to Instagram to explain that she plans to “share [her] pregnancy content mindfully over the coming months”.

Síle recently announced that she is expecting her second child with Fiancé Damien. The couple already have a son, Cathal, together who was born in 2017.

Unfortunately Síle has suffered two miscarriages in the past and has said that she understands that pregnancy content can be triggering for some people.

Speaking to The Independent she said, “Scan images and photos can be triggering, although personally I never felt they were to me, but I know they can be for other people.

“So I don’t want to be almost pouring salt into people’s wounds by using my page in that way. I have learned a lot. I don’t think there is anything wrong with putting up scan or bump photos because I understand it’s a beautiful, joyous time to celebrate.”

On Instagram she explained that she had thought about this before and that she “always knew [her] pregnancy announcement wouldn’t be a bump photo and that [she] would be mindful of what and how [she] post[s] going forward.

“This is not to say I will never post a bump photo but I will do my best to share pregnancy content mindfully over the coming months,” she continued.

Seoige announced her pregnancy in an Instagram live, but said that she was “very conscious of how [she says] it”. She asked followers to “watch with awareness” and to “be kind” to themselves when watching.

Síle is 16 weeks pregnant and said she is “overjoyed” with the news.
