Shane Filan has addressed the rumours of a Westlife reunion, and said there’s absolutely no chance the boyband are getting back together.
Shane was spotted out with his friend and ex-band mate Nicky Byrne recently, and this lead to speculation that the group were reforming.
Speaking to The Sun, the singer said, “When myself and Nicky were spotted in the corner of a pub recently having a drink together, people were going, ‘that’s it, the Westlife reunion is on. It’s happening.’”
Shane believes the recent interest in a reunion is due to the fact another well known Irish band have gotten back together after a ten year break.
“Because The Corrs are back, it has opened up the floodgate doors that Westlife are next,” he said.
The star went on to say, “I swear to God, at the moment there is zero chance of Westlife getting back together. There isn’t event talk about it. I could say it might happen but that would give false hope to fans because at the moment, there are zero plans for Westlife to get back together.”
Shane admitted that when they do see each other and talk, which isn’t very often, there’s no mention of a reunion.
“We have never spoken about it. We have only been all together once in the past three years. It was good to see the lads, but we didn’t even dicuss it. There are no plans. There is no Westlife now. There is no Westlife planned for the future,” he said.
Well that sounds like a resounding ‘no’ to us.
