We think October is the perfect time of year to cancel all your plans in favour of a good book.
And there are so many incredible books coming out this October.
Here’s what we’ll be reading this month…
Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life as a Fury – Tommy Fury
A highly anticipated memoir, especially after the shock split this summer from Molly Mae Hague.
Tommy Fury will take readers behind the curtain, as he reveals what life is like juggling his many identities: boxing champion, TV star, mental health advocate, and father, and navigating the most difficult period of his life in August 2024.
Out October 10th
What Does it Feel Like – Sophie Kinsella
We absolutely adore everything Sophie writes and her new novel is no different!
Eve is a successful novelist who wakes up one day in a hospital bed with no memory of how she got there. Her husband, never far from her side, explains that she has had an operation to remove the large, malignant tumour growing in her brain.
She has to put the pieces of her life back together slowly but surely in this beautiful novel.
Out October 8th
By Any Other Name – Jodi Picoult
Another immediate read author is Jodi!
In 1581, Emilia Bassano—like most young women of her day—is allowed no voice of her own. But as the Lord Chamberlain’s mistress, she has access to all theatre in England, and finds a way to bring her work to the stage secretly.
In the present, playwright Melina Green has just written a new work inspired by the life of her Elizabethan ancestor Emilia Bassano. Although the challenges are different four hundred years later, the playing field is still not level for women in theatre.

What We Know Now – Jenny Kelly and Mairéad Ronan
Just like their podcast, Jenny and Mairead share their failures, successes and mess-ups.
They share how to navigate the ebbs and flows of proper grown-up friendships, to what it means to be in a relationship and how to read the signs of when to move on, to how to stop worrying about having it all and figure out what it is you actually want – as well as essential truths, like why you will never have Pocahontas hair and that’s okay, the joy of a deep clean and the noise of a spray mop, and how staring at trees can make you happier than owning a Mulberry handbag.
Now! doesn’t claim to solve all your problems, but it will provide good company, give you a good laugh, and help you feel less alone through the unavoidable ups and downs of life.

Women Living Deliciously – Florence Given
Women Living Deliciously wants us to fall in love with our lives. It will help women uncover the sense of awe and wonder that has been buried by the layers of shame, perfectionism and self-objectification that get piled on us by the patriarchy. For too long we have internalised the belief that our bodies are things to be looked at – instead of lived in.
That it’s embarrassing to fully express ourselves. That we cannot trust the parts of ourselves that are so full of desire.
This book will unpack the many barriers women face when trying to access joy, so that they can discover the delicious life that’s theirs for the taking.
Out October 8th
Bloodguard – Cecy Robson

So when the chance comes to fight as a gladiator in a vicious, bloodthirsty tournament, he seizes it with both hands. Winning will earn him the coveted title of Bloodguard, his freedom, and his sister’s life. But only if he survives.
Then Leith meets Maeve, an elven royal who is everything he despises. Until the alluring princess offers him the one thing he needs most: victory.
