We’re counting down the days until Bridgerton season three arrives on our screens.
It’s been a long time coming as we’ve had to wait two years for it!
But we’ve gotten some looks at the Nicola Coughlan-led season.
This week, we got an insight into the third season including a new clip of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton coming head to head.
In the one-minute clip, things get heated between the two…and not in a good way.
At the end of season two, Penelope, played by Nicola, overheard her crush Colin reveal that there was no way he would ever be romantically involved with her.
In this new clip, he appears to confront Pen about why she has been so distant from him.
“Do you not need a chaperone?” Colin asks Penelope as she prepares to leave the ball, to which she quickly replies: “Spinsters do not need chaperones.”
Colin is clearly shocked as he says: “You are not a spinster!”
“I’m in my third year on the marriage mart with no prospects to show for it. What would you call that?” she snaps.
Colin then asks if something has happened between the two of them.
“Something wrong, Pen? Between us, I mean? I wrote to you this summer, as I always do, and why you did not respond? Admittedly, very few did but if you are going to make me say it out loud, I miss you.”
“You miss me? You miss me, but you never court me, is that correct?” she retorts.
“I overheard you at my mama’s ball last season, telling everyone how you would’ve never, ever court Penelope Featherington.”
After he asks to discuss this in “private” Penelope says that she “embarrasses” him, adding: “Of course, you would never court me. I’m the laughingstock of the ton even when I change my entire wardrobe. It just never occurred to me that you of all people could be so cruel.”
She then leaves, sparking the question of how can Colin win her back.
The titles for all eight episodes of season three have also been revealed, helping us put the timeline together. The new season will begin with Out of the Shadows followed by How Bright the Moon, Forces of Nature, Old Friends, Tick Tock, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, which is the title of the book this series is based on. It will conclude with Joining of Hands and Into the Light.
How exciting!
Oh and if that wasn’t enough drama, it looks like Colin won’t be the only man to catch Penelope’s eye this season.
Speaking at the Valentine’s Bridgerton event, Nicola teased: “Penelope’s decided she’s going to find a husband. She finds some suitors, but one is very, very fond of her.”
Sam Phillips will play the handsome Lord Debling who will be vying for Penelope’s hand this debutante season!
Bridgerton season three will premiere in two parts, with the first batch landing on May 16th and concluding on June 13th.
