Sean O’Rourke has bid an emotional goodbye to RTE, as he officially retired from broadcasting.
After 25 years with RTE, he hung up his boots this afternoon – paying special thanks to all those who he had crossed paths with over the years.
“My love affair with broadcasting began in 1982. I’ve worked with some great bosses here, people who gave me some great breaks and forgave the occasional screw-up,” he said.
“Thanks to fellow presenters, producers and reporters; you know how important to me you’ve all been and I can never thank you enough. Nor can I thank my family enough. They’ve put up with a lot.”
Sean also took a moment to thank the wonderful listeners who have tuned into his shows over the last number of years.
“I really want to thank the thousands of people who wrote to me and sent messages and cards. I am absolutely overwhelmed by them,” he said.
“Thank you most especially to those listeners who have taken the time to do that.”
He’ll certainly be missed!
