Sarah McInerney swapped the Prime Time studio for the red carpet over the weekend for this year’s Platinum VIP Style Awards.
She is all smiles as she chats with us before heading inside.
“I came here last year for the first time, and I had such a ball. I’ve been looking forward to it all year because the style is just sensational,” she gushes.
“There’s just so much to look at, and the style, it’s just amazing. But also, there’s just a good vibe, everyone’s here to have fun and it’s just so lovely. I love it.”
Of course, it’s very different from her everyday job where she hosts Prime Time every Tuesday alongside Miriam O’Callaghan and Morning Ireland on RTÉ Radio 1.
“That’s the reason I love it,” she gushes.
“I get to meet a whole load of people, often that I haven’t met before, that I wouldn’t be in my normal circuit. I don’t think there’s any politicians here that I’ve seen yet,” she jokes.
“There are people that I sort of know from the industry, but I don’t get to meet regularly. And I’m going to have a great night with them tonight. Some of the girls from Virgin Media or other news organisations that I don’t see, or from RTÉ. And we just have a great time to just catch up and have a bit of a gossip.”
We know she loves a chat on and off-air, and sure, who doesn’t?
Speaking about asking the hard questions, she says: “It’s almost like acting. You click into a role, and then you’re doing a job. My job is to ask the questions that people want answers to.
“I think most people who engage understand that I’m not being rude, I’m not being, you know, impertinent. I just have to ask the questions. And I think for the most part, people understand that.”
Of course, she knows how to “switch off” as well.
“I go home, and I watch a lot of reality TV. And I totally switch off from the news. And I really do, as much as I can, because it’s really important to do that as well.”

So what is her go-to show?
“Love Is Blind. I think I’ve watched every single country of Love Is Blind. I discovered Love Is Blind Poland last night. If you haven’t watched it, you need to watch it. It’s sensational.”
“Poland is messy. Poland is messy. And I’m only halfway through episode one. I was texting my sister going, ‘You have to watch Love Is Blind Poland. It’s amazing.’ So, that’s what I do to wind down.”
She has a busy summer ahead as she is planning a road trip around Croatia.
“Myself and my husband, my two boys. We’re gonna plan a road trip. So we’ve booked a flight, so we’ve booked nothing else. And we’re going in four weeks. have a lot to do this weekend. Tomorrow, I wake up, and my plan is to try to figure out where exactly we’re going in Croatia over the couple of weeks. But that’s what we’re doing. That’s the plan.”
