Sabrina Carpenter has let her fans in on the meaning behind her latest single “Manchild,” amid speculation that it was inspired by her ex, Barry Keoghan.

The pop star dropped her latest single on Friday, featuring razor-sharp lyrics about men who have been “testing” her.

Fans went wild earlier this week when Sabrina teased the new single on social media, which led many to believe that she would be taking a swipe at her breakup with Barry.

“Mr Barry Fumble….” one follower commented.

While another joked: “Barry Keoghan rest in peace girl.”

However, now we finally have the true meaning behind the song.

In a post shared on Instagram today, Sabrina penned: “I wrote Manchild on a random Tuesday with Amy and Jack not too long after finishing Short n’ Sweet, and it ended up being the best random Tuesday of my life.”

As fans may recall, Sabrina was still dating Barry at the time, which shuts down the theory that the song is a breakup anthem written about him.

The singer continued: “Not only was it so fun to write, but this song became to me something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life.”

Well, there you have it, folks!

Now, we could still be wrong, but in reality, it’s more than likely about all of her exes…

And, sure, we love to see it all the same!
