It looks like we’ll be hearing Ryan Tubridy on the airwaves sooner than expected as the start date for his new hosting role on the UK’s Virgin Radio has been brought forward.
Yes, earlier this year the former Late Late Show presenter announced that he would be taking up a new position in the UK with his debut show taking place on Thursday, January 4.
However, now it has been confirmed that Ryan will instead be broadcasting two days earlier on Tuesday, January 2.
The Dubliner will follow his colleague Chris Evans’ show, with a three-hour slot that will also be broadcast on Dublin’s Q102 station for Irish listeners from 10am-1pm.
“New city, new station, new beginnings. I love radio and what a joy to be following the legendary Chris Evans every morning,” he added.
“It’s been a pleasure getting to know my new friends at Virgin Radio, all of whom have been warm, engaging and very entertaining.
“And big thanks to the London Irish who have made me feel so welcome in recent weeks.

Speaking about his decision to leave The Late Late Show, Ryan admitted that he felt “joy, relief and absolute comfort in [his] decision”.
“I was so happy I chose to go when I did. It was a little earlier than I was contractually obliged to go but I knew in my heart [it was time to go].
“I heard before from certain presenters that ‘if you’re not feeling it, don’t stick around.’ And I started to not feel it. If I stuck around for another season, it would have been unfair to the team, to the viewers, to myself.”
