It doesn’t matter what age you are. Sometimes all you need is your mother.

And Ryan Tubridy understands that.

The former Late Late presenter moved to London at the start of the year, starting a new job with Virgin Radio.

Of course, he’s known to get homesick.

Over the weekend he shared a rare picture of himself with his mother after she made the trip to the UK.

He wrote: “An official State visit from my mother (82!) this weekend. Delicious dinner at The Devonshire last night and Shackleton documentary premiere this afternoon. Wine to follow.”

How sweet is this!

Miriam O’Callaghan commented: “What a beautiful photo Ryan. Have a wonderful weekend together.”

“Gorgeous picture,” Clare Garrihy wrote.

While Deric Hartigan said: “Awh lucky to have her.”

Earlier this year, Ryan opened up about losing his father Patrick, who worked as a psychiatrist at St John of God hospital, in 2013 following a short illness.

Reflecting on that time, the presenter admitted that all of a sudden “everything changed”.

“I’m thinking of looking out of the back of the funeral car of my own dad and thinking that very same thing, going ‘Don’t you know this great guy is gone? How can you be going in to buy bread?’ That’s so mundane,” Ryan explained.

“It’s most unusual, you forget your universe is just that.”

Continuing on, he said: “It’s like someone flicked the globe and everything’s changed and actually your landscape in your daily life is littered with landmines, with emotional tripwires and you suddenly find [you’re like] ‘hold it together, hold it together’ because no one else cares and certainly doesn’t understand why you’re suddenly having a moment because you saw a packet of Silk Cut Purple because it reminds you of your father.

“It’s bizarre.”

How emotional.
