Ryan Andrews has revealed the cast of Fair City have to take weekly Covid tests while filming to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
Filmed ceased for a number of months last year as the country went into lockdown, however with additional measures in place, cast and crew could return to the set.
They get a private rapid test at the beginning of every working week, and the results are with them within 12-24hours.
Chatting to followers on Instagram actor Ryan Andrews said, “A lot of people don’t know we get Covid tested every single week. It’s brilliant.
“Everyone from the cast [on set] to the crew in the office get it done. It makes it a safer environment so you know you’re good and you’re clean.”
Ryan revealed they usually happen very early in morning and while it’s not the nicest way to start the day, it’s essential.
“Today was actually my latest appointment. It was at two o’clock but I’ve had some at seven o’clock in the morning or a quarter past seven and I’ll tell you that wakes you up.
“Literally back of the nostril and back of the throat but as I said it’s great to get it done and get it every week,” he said.
Series Producer Brigie deCourcy previously revealed the health and well-being of everyone involved in the show is their main priority – but she’s glad that everyone has been able to return to work, creating the content viewers know and love.
“It has been our priority that these systems were in place before committing to a return date so that we could protect the health and well-being of our actors, writers, directors and crew.
“We have been eager to get back to production, but the priority was the health and safety of the whole team. Everyone is delighted that we are now in a position to get back to telling stories and bringing fun and chaos back to Carrigstown,” she said.
