It was announced yesterday that Ruth O’Neill is quitting Xpose, just days after bagging the Most Stylish Newcomer award at the 2017 Peter Mark VIP Style Awards.
The 29-year-old moved home from Los Angeles last year to cover for Karen Koster while she was on maternity leave, but her contract was extended.
However, things weren’t as easy as they seemed for the star, as she found it tough to settle back in Dublin, and she’s now ready for something new.
Speaking to the Independent.ie Ruth said, “I’ve just found it so hard to settle at home. I think anyone who’s lived abroad, whether it’s Australia or the UK, will understand that it can be tough to adjust to life at home when you’ve been away for so long.
“All my friends live away and it’s been difficult to meet new friends. We keep in touch on WhatsApp but it’s not the same. It can be really lonely at times. I thought it would be grand but it wasn’t as easy as I thought.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen and I’m a little bit nervous but I know I want to take the chance to try something new now.
“We’ll see what comes my way. My boyfriend lives in London and I’d be keen to try something there but I’m not ruling anything out. I’m in the last year of my twenties and I’m just thinking ‘why not,’ if I leave it any longer I might be too scared to move.”
