Rory Cowan has taken to social media to thank friends and fans for their support following his mother’s passing.

Esther who was 85, passed away on Monday, November 5th surrounded by loved ones at St. Vincent’s University Hospital.

The actor took to Twitter to say that he had read all the touching messages about his loss.

Sharing a sweet black and while photo he said: “Thank you all for all the lovely messages you sent me since my mother died last week. I really appreciate them. I read them all and I’m very touched by your kindness to me and my family.

Esther was laid to rest last Thursday in south Dublin with a huge turn out of friends and family.

One person who wasn’t welcome at the funeral, however, was Rory’s former friend Twink.

Twink, whose real name is Adele King, approached Rory to pay her respects but she was quickly told to leave.

“I had my head down and I tapped his arm and told him, ‘You have my sympathies on Esther’,” she told The Sun.

“But Rory said, ‘That’s right, you just keep walking. You get out of here. This is for family and friends, you are not welcome here, go on, get out of here, keep walking.’

“There was a packed crowd around us. People thought he was joking but realised he wasn’t. I thought the ground would open up and swallow me.

“I had brought a little card which I never got to give to him. I was that upset I drove away from the church blinded with tears.”

Rory confirmed the incident to the Sun, in which he explained that he doesn’t consider her a friend.

“I just looked at her and said, ‘You shouldn’t be here, I don’t want you here. This is only for family and friends, you are neither. Now go! Now please go.’”
