Rachel Allen has revealed an exciting new career venture for herself and husband Isaac.

The couple are set to open their very first restaurant together next month, in Cork.

The venue, located on Washington Street, will sit 130 people in the main area, as well as hold 30 people for private dining when it opens at the end of February.

Speaking exclusively to VIP Magazine, Rachel said, “I will be in the kitchen and out front. As will Isaac.

“We have a really great team on board, including Isaac’s cousin and a great girl who trained with us at Ballymaloe years ago.

“I will still work at the cookery school as well. I’ll just need a very fast mode of transport to get around.”

The happy couple are used to working in close proximity to one another, so spending all their time together, isn’t something which worries Rachel.

“We work so closely on everything else, so I think we’ll be okay. We just have to learn how to ‘park it’ before coming home in the evening,” she told us.

As for what customers can expect, Rachel said, “The philosophy will be simple, with a small venue that will change on a regular basis and evolve with the seasons.

“There will be fresh, organic produce from the farm at Callymaloe along with fish from Ballycotton Bay and meat from the east Cork area.

“There’ll be a wood-fired oven, fire pits, an in-restuarant smoker, and drying chambers to age the beef in house.”

We bet the queue will be out the door!
