Who better to sit down and have a chat with than Muireann O’Connell?
We’re obsessed with her…
Muireann, we’re always tuning in to you on Ireland AM, but what are you watching on telly right now?
That’s very kind of you! I’m watching too much news but for something completely different I was recently bet into Celebrity Big Brother. It’s been years since I watched it and it’s so good!
What are you reading?
Caroline O’Donoghue, The Rachel Incident.
Are you listening to anything in particular at the moment?
The audiobook of Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton.
Tell us, what’s your guilty pleasure?
I genuinely don’t think there’s such a thing as a guilty pleasure. If it’s legal and you enjoy it, it’s just a pleasure, right? Why throw guilt into it! Enjoy away. And the movie Leap Year.
What are you most thankful for in life?
Great friends who give perspective and will tell you, “Yes, you do look pregnant in those high rise jeans. They’re not for you. Give it up.”
What scares you?
Opening social media!
What have you learned over the last few years?
That my parents really did do life better than I ever will. The amount of hobbies they have and had. I’m rubbish!
What’s your standout childhood memory?
So many. Getting to drive the tractor on my uncle’s farm when I was quite a few years away from having a licence was one of my biggest thrills. Blame my father!
Who’s had the biggest influence on your life?
My mother.
What are you most looking forward to in the future?
Getting my mother to stay in Dublin for more than five minutes!
