We caught up with Maura Higgins for a quick chat about life, work and her grá for Ireland.
Where are you right now?
I’m in sunny Fiji, which I hate to rub in because I know the weather at home is terrible.
What do you do when you feel homesick?
FaceTime is the best thing for when you’re far from home. I talk to Mammy on FaceTime every single day and it feels like I’m there.
Best place in Ireland?
I would have to say, my hometown, because that’s where my family and friends are.
If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing?
I’d probably be a Monster Energy promo girl because I loved it and it was just so much fun, I got to travel the world, it was great!
How would you describe Maura Higgins?
You would expect a woman who is getting older to calm down a bit, but I’m definitely getting madder. I think the older you get, you care a lot less.
Tell us a standout childhood memory.
Probably being in my treehouse in my garden with my closest friend after school. That’s what sticks out because we just spent so much time there together. The treehouse is sadly gone now.
You’re in charge of cooking dinner, what are you making?
I make a banging Spaghetti Bolognese!
When you have a day off work, what are you doing?
If I was at home, it would probably be getting into a hot bath, having a pizza, and watching a movie.
What’s your favourite movie?
Titanic. I literally can quote it word for word. It’s the best film ever.
Do you have any hidden talents?
Yes! I can drift a car.
Where do you want to be in 10 years’ time?
To be honest, I don’t know. I prefer to live in the moment.
