The winners, decided by an expert panel and awarded at an exclusive lunch in Dublin’s Marker Hotel on November 18th, will be profiled in the December issue of VIP Magazine.

The Lifestyle Award sponsored by Meta celebrates the women whose businesses focus the beauty of home, hobbies, and life. Here’s a bit more information about our incredible nominees…

Alix Mulholland – Field Day

Alix Mulholland has bottled the scent of the Irish countryside in the form of everyone’s favourite homeware accessory, candles! Having grown up surrounded by an array of scents signature to the gorgeous nature of Ireland, Alix wanted to re-create these scents to unlock childhood memories, providing an element of escape during a busy week.

Starting off creating soaps at her mother’s kitchen table, the company has been going from strength to strength ever since and has just celebrated its 20th birthday.

Alix’s candles not only provide fresh scents but also play a part in the conservation and restoration of land, with a focus on supporting wildlife and sustainability, they want to, “leave things better than [they] find them.”

Erin Thomas – Hopeless Botanics

Erin Thomas set up Hopeless Botanics during the first lockdown in 2020, a time when we all needed a little something to brighten up our homes. Inspired by her love of gardening and her desire to bring her hobby indoors once the summer season was over, the company was born!

Erin highlights the accessibility of indoor plants noting you don’t need much space to add a bit of greenery to your “gaff”.

With a storefront on Francis Street and an online shop that delivers to your door, the team is passionate about utilising fellow Irish businesses where possible. Feeding into the plant parent phenomenon that has arrived in the past few years, Erin has found a niche that keeps on growing.

Katie Sanderson – White Mausu

Katie Sanderson’s passion for condiments led her to create her brand. Having met her partner Jasper while working in a Dublin café, the pair bonded over their foodie nature and love for experimenting in the kitchen.

Running a restaurant out of a boat shed in their early years, they perfected chilli oils that mimicked flavours Katie recognised from growing up in Hong Kong. Once people had a taste, they were begging for more and then it was a natural progression from boat sheds, to flea markets and onto the shelves!

Katie is determined to ensure her company is a force of good and runs it accordingly, implementing a four-day workweek, actively seeking information on their impacts and adding a charitable aspect to the business.

Laura Gaffney and Ciara Doyle – Lil & Co Home

Founded in 2021, Lil & Co Home was the brainchild of sisters Laura Gaffney and Ciara Doyle. The pair are passionate about ensuring a home feels warm, welcoming and is the perfect setting for friends and family to enjoy time together and create lasting memories.

As working mothers, they know that undertaking a home revamp can take a lot of time and stress and wanted to ensure their products made this as simple as possible for customers, so everybody could treat themselves to the room they deserve.

Fiona Uyema – Fused

Fiona’s love for Asian food was fuelled when she lived in the region for three years teaching and travelling as well as enjoying the cuisine.

Her passion led her to want to share the Japanese diet with more people once she returned to Ireland. Carrying out cooking classes and demonstrations, Fiona gained more and more attention.

All of this led to the growth of Fused, the tasty and healthy range of ingredients and sauces that are 100% natural. Fused has also partnered with the Irish Red Cross to create two sauces whose proceeds will support humanitarian assistance in impacted communities in Ukraine and surrounding regions where Ukrainian refugees have fled. Conscious ingredients and a good cause!

Karen and Natalie Keane – Bean & Goose

Sisters, Karen and Natalie have fond memories of chocolate from their childhood, the delicious rich taste, the excitement receiving a box as a gift and the atmosphere surrounding the sweet treat as a whole.

However, over the years they noticed chocolate just didn’t have the same effect, in a bid to re-create the taste and experience that was once so precious they set out to create their own brand. Putting time and patience into learning the skills and craftsmanship needed to perfect their dream chocolate recipe, Bean & Goose was born.

Not only do they pride themselves on their excellent flavours and quality, but Bean & Goose is also sustainable and ethically sourced. Karen and Natalie want their company to work towards shaping the future and proudly operate with the one bar one tree policy.

Maria Reidy – Signature Editions

With over 12 years of experience in event planning both in Ireland and worldwide and setting up her own events company over six years ago, Maria knows what it takes to host something spectacular.

With this, she noticed a gap in the market for stunning tableware and added elements to take your event, or your family dinner, to the next level. Signature Editions is just one of Maria’s ventures that work to make your job as host a lot easier and your event unforgettable.

With beautiful tableware and home decor available to order right to your door, Signature Editions creates an atmosphere for your home that is tailored to your style with ease.

Tara O’Connor – The Designed Table

People have an extra appreciation for spending time with loved ones over the past few years and Tara knows the importance of a good setting for a social occasion.

Having grown up with a mother who loved to entertain and working 20+ years in PR and events, Tara is familiar with a good party. And what is at the centre of a good party? The table.
