We were sad to see Olympian Philip Doyle say goodbye to Dancing with the Stars on Sunday night.
The rower made it to the quarter-finals of the competition before ending up in the dance-off against Tolü Makay who had received a perfect score from the judges.
Unfortunately, it meant that he was ultimately voted out by the judges after a tense second dance. He jokes that he may have been “jinxed” on the night.
Speaking to VIP Magazine after the show, he revealed that for the first time in the show his shoelaces had come undone.

“The shoelaces never came undone,” he confessed.
“Before we went out to dance, someone said, ‘Check that your shoelaces are done’. I said, ‘Sure they’ve never come undone’. I was jinxed. Halfway through the dance, they were undone.”
He added: “We’ll blame it all on the shoelaces. Nine weeks, how many dances, rehearsals, everything. That never happened.”
He went on to say: “I cut my curls off yesterday and think that also didn’t help!”
Philip and his professional partner, Daniela Roze, scored 31 for their energetic Jive to Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen.

“I think when you come up against the likes of tonight, when you’re not scoring above 35 points, you’re going to be in the danger zone,” he confessed.
Fans of the show will definitely miss Philip and the doctor admitted that he is going to miss coming to rehearsals every day.
“It’s a journey the whole way. Our journey is now over, which is sad,” he told us.
Now he’ll be focusing on going back to the hospital where he works in A&E.
“I have the list of shifts in an email which I have to go through,” he said, adding that he will back on the ward “as soon as possible”.
Dancing with the Stars continues on Sunday at 6:30pm on RTÉ One
