Joe Duffy hung up his mic for the final time on Friday.
It was certainly an emotional day as he said goodbye after 27 years.
His replacement was hotly contested.
And while we don’t have a permenant replacement just yet, we know who will step in during the interim.

Philip Boucher-Hayes stepped in this week and promised that things wouldn’t be too different!
Philip is no stranger to presenting as he hosts Countrywide and has filled in as host on both Liveline and Today With Claire Byrne. So it’s safe to say we’re in good hands.
“For the texts, the number is still the same, the production team is still the same,” Philip said as Liveline kicked off this week before welcoming the first caller.

It’s not known who will be the full time replacement. Katie Hannon’s name has been bandied about however, she is set to continue on as the host of RTÉ’s Behind the Story podcast and will host a new TV programme ahead of the Presidential election later this year.
Earlier this summer Dáithí Ó Sé was the favourite to fill the slot, according to bookmaker Ladbrokes.
Tommy Tiernan also threw his hat in the ring.

Speaking to RTÉ’s Brendan O’Connor, the comedian turned chat show host said: “On the chat show, it’s very easy for me to keep asking questions because I am curious about people.
“It’s very easy for me to have long conversations with people I meet at the street and not to think that my curiosity is nosiness – it probably kind of is – but be naturally curious. You know, I’d be great on Liveline.”
Jennifer Zamparelli’s name is also in the ring for Liveline host, although she told VIP Magazine: ” I don’t know who can fill his shoes. He’s just such an icon and so amazing at what he does and we’re so used to his lovely voice. I think it’ll be tricky for anybody to fill those shoes. So don’t put money on me, because you might lose.”
