Paul Mescal’s father, Paul Sr, has shared his pride over his son’s career.
The 28-year-old got his big break in Normal People before appearing in Oscar-nominated Aftersun and his emotional film with Andrew Scott, All of Us Strangers.
But he’s ready to become one of the world’s biggest stars in Gladiator 2.
He didn’t lick his love for acting off a stone! He actually takes after his father.
Paul Sr has returned to the stage in the show, Are Ya Dancin’?.
He appeared on The Six O’Clock Show this week as he praised his eldest child for his already incredible career.
“It’s very difficult to explain, to say you’re very proud is a little bit cliché but it is that at the same time,” he confessed.
“I was thinking about this, you know, I was lucky enough to be in the Colosseum back in February and I’m a little bit nerdy about history and stuff like that.
“There’s a great honor in seeing Paul do this for us” ❤️

“I was just standing there and I was thinking about how horrible it was to have been there and thinking about the horrific things.”
He went on to say: “Then at the other side to think that my son is actually going to play this in an entertainment world – but at the same time that would bring a picture of what actually happened in the Colosseum.
“It kind of gets me all emotional, that aspect of things.”
Of course, he is excited for his son to take on the biggest role of his career so far.
“It’s a great honour to see him doing this for us – but then the other side of it is, we can’t wait for the craic. How does it make me feel? It makes me feel very proud, it makes Dearbhla and I feel extremely proud of the way it has turned out.”
He went on to say: “It’s down to hard work and commitment, you make your own success and Paul definitely has worked extremely hard over the last – I think he’s nearly at it ten years now.
“It takes ten years to become an overnight success.”
