Paul Mescal jetted off this summer to work on his next movie.
Seriously when does he sleep?
The Maynooth man has been cast as the lead actor in the follow-up to the mega-hit Gladiator.
He was spotted in Malta by fans as he soaked up the sun with his co-star Pedro Pascal.
The pair are both starring in the blockbuster which is currently filming.
A group of fans spotted the pair in the sun-soaked country and managed to get a snap with the duo.
Both looked relaxed in t-shirts and shorts as they walked on the beach on their downtime from shooting. Both Paul and Pedro shielded their eyes from the sun with sunglasses as they beamed at the camera.
They are filming the movie from June to September in Malta, with The Times of Malta reporting that over 900 people have applied to play extras in the film.
Originally it had been reported that Barry Keoghan would also join the film.
According to Deadline, Barry Keoghan was in negotiations to play the character of Emperor Geta, however, scheduling conflicts forced him to pull out of the movie completely.
The publication went on to say that The White Lotus star Fred Hechinger is currently in talks to take on the role.
The film has a star-studded cast including Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen. Connie will reprise her role from the first film and play Paul Mescal’s character’s mother.
It is now being reported that Derek Jacobi will also come back for the sequel to once again play Gracchus. Fans of the original 2000 film will be delighted.
