Have we ever seen Paul Mescal in a comedic role?
We tend to leave any and all Paul projects in tears.
But as part of his Gladiator II press tour he will be hosting American sketch show, Saturday Night Live.
So we’ll all see a side of Paul we’ve never seen before – his comedy side.
And for a promo clip, we got a hint of what to expect.
SNL stars Heidi Gardner and Devon Walker come into the room and query if Paul is a method actor.
However, he quickly slides into Gladiator mode when Heidi and Devon argue about whose script is whose.
“And so it shall be, a fight to the death,” the Maynooth man says as he slips into his Gladiator accent.
He pulls out a sword and proclaims: “For glory and for truth.”
Another SNL star Mikey Day appears, explaining to Paul that he can’t play Donald Trump Jr on the show as it’s “kinda [his] thing”.
Paul responds: “Absolutely no problem! It’s all yours.”
He then leaves before Mikey is shot by an arrow and the camera pans to Paul in the balcony with a bow and arrow.
He declares: “A man must battle for what is properly his. I shall have revenge or I will have death.”
The 28-year-old then breaks into a smile and says: “It’s going to be real fun this week, guys. I’ll see you at the read-through.”
Paul will make his debut on Saturday Night Live on December 7th, when he will co-host with musical guest Shaboozey.
Hozier will also take to the iconic stage for the final show on December 21st with host Martin Short.
