Normal People fans have yearned for an update on what Connell and Marianne got up to after the final pages and moments of the book and the show.
Did they end up together years later? Did they find themselves? Did Connell become a famous writer?
While it doesn’t look like Sally Rooney will be giving us a sequel any time soon.
But Paul Mescal has shared his opinion about what he thinks happened to the character that shot him into superstardom.
Speaking at the charity showing of all 12 episodes of Normal People in London earlier this month, he reflected on the character.
“It’s such an interesting question, because I think it changes as you change yourself through life,” he said in a moment that was shared on TikTok.
“When I look back at who I was five years ago, thinking it was all to gether and then life is just a mad, mad experience! I think my hope for those characters has changed as it’s come along.”

He continued: “I think the connection that they have in that show, and you watch that for 12 episodes, kind of feels spiritual to me.
“I feel like no matter what’s gonna happen with them, they will probably fall in and out of it again but ultimately when they come back I feel like they will land into each other and I hope and in my head that’s what they do.”
Well, we love to hear it, Paul!
