Irish actor Paul Mescal has secured himself a major international nomination for his role as Connel in hit TV series Normal People.
The 25-year-old has been nominated in the Best Breakthrough category at the MTV Movie and TV Awards. Going up against some of the biggest names in the business, Paul is nominated in the category alongside the likes of Ashley Park for her role in Emily In Paris and Regé-Jean Page for his character of The Duke in Netflix series Bridgerton.
The awards show will see gender-neutral categories, a concept that has been running for three years with Emma Watson accepting the first genderless award back in 2017.
The MTV Movie and TV Awards was called off last year due to COVID-19, it is now set to be back and better than ever taking place on May 16th.
Leading the way with this year’s nominations is popular Disney+ series WandaVision with five nominations, closely followed by Netflix series Emily In Paris which has received four nominations.
