Paul Mescal donated a signed pair of GAA shorts to a club in Clare and you could win them!

We have never wanted a pair of GAA shorts more in our lives.

Even though we Irish know that the humble GAA short is a staple of sports in Ireland that almost every household has multiple pairs of floating around, even if you don’t remember ever playing sport.

When Paul Mescal wore them in Normal People, well, they became an exclusive item to the world, with Gucci making their own version of them that cost over €500!

Us Irish could never imagine spending that sort of money on a pair of O’Neills shorts…Until now.

Yes the moment has come that Irish fans of Normal People just might be willing to spend their savings on an exclusive part of the sports kit, since it is signed by Paul Mescal himself.

The actor donated a signed pair of GAA shorts to County Clare’s Cooraclare GAA club, where his dad was born, his extended family are still part of the club today.

According to The Irish Examiner a spokesperson for the club, Joe Considine, said, “We are delighted to have one of our own doing so well in the entertainment world.

“The whole Mescal family are great supporters of the club so when Paul came along to watch his Godson, Daragh Jim, train with the club’s under 9s recently he kindly agreed to sign a few items for us including, of course, the iconic shorts.”

The message on the shorts read, “To the Normal People of Cooraclare – Paul Mescal.”

Tickets for the draw to win the shorts are €10 and the club hope to raise €20,000.
