In the midst of the news that Ryan Tubridy was receiving undeclared payments from RTÉ, Patrick Kielty has confirmed his salary.
The Down man is taking on hosting duties of The Late Late Show later this year.
He explained that he has signed a three-season deal to head up the series. He will be paid for 30 shows per season.
He confirmed in a statement that he will be paid €250,000 to present the show, which means that he will earn €8,333 per episode.
He went on to say that he will also receive a one-off payment of €20,000 to pay for pre-production and rehearsals from now until the show kicks off in September.
“The contract allows me to submit flight and accommodation expenses, but I’ve waived this,” he stated.
“I’ve made it clear to RTÉ that I will be covering my own flights and accommodation costs.”
He went on to state that he has asked the national broadcaster to offset his carbon emission.
He added that if he is asked to do any more shows he will be paid on a pro-rata basis.
He concluded by saying: “I genuinely hope this helps clarify things going forward. I can’t wait to get started.”
Patrick was urged to share his salary after RTÉ bosses were called to an Oireachtas Media Committee meeting to answer questions about the controversy surrounding payments made to Ryan Tubridy.
