Self-care isn’t easy in this rise-and-grind world. VIP Magazine caught up with beauty expert Pamela Laird to ask her how she manages to take some well-deserved time for herself.

Hi Pamela, how are you keeping?
Great thanks I have just started an MBA in Smurfit UCD and recently travelled to Yale University which was so fun – living my best Gilmore Girl life! We are launching some new Moxi Loves products soon which is very exciting! So I am keeping busy between college and Moxi Loves it’s a constant juggle but I wouldn’t change a thing!
Us women tend to put ourselves on the back burner, what is your self-care ritual?
Skincare is often what I do first, it relaxes me and I really enjoy taking time out of my day to do my routine. I find a facemask is a perfect excuse for taking time to just relax. I also love to get to the gym, I try to go in the morning before my day starts, it’s a time when I completely switch off!
What makes you feel at your most confident?
I can suffer from imposter syndrome, especially being a woman in business it can often feel very male-dominated and it can be difficult to feel that confidence. I usually try and listen to a podcast like The Entrepreneur Experiment to hear other founders’ stories. It helps to know you aren’t alone and can really inspire me and gives me a boost of confidence when I need it! And more superficially there’s nothing like a good hair day to make you feel your best and so a good blowdry always makes me feel confident!
How do you make time for yourself?
Lately, that’s becoming a little harder, I have quite a bit to juggle! I do find that having things in the diary to look forward to helps me. I have a night at the Dylan hotel booked in soon to just take a day out even in Dublin and do things I enjoy. I do really need that time and I, for sure find I am more motivated for work/college knowing I have some fun times scheduled in.

While busy women often juggle multiple roles it can be difficult to make yourself the priority while trying to do a million things! I love the saying “When you say yes to others make sure you are not saying no to yourself”. It’s important to invest in yourself and that will only make you more impactful in the other areas of your life.
