Pamela Joyce shocked listeners when she signed off for her final show on Today FM last year.
The Galway girl hung up her mic and returned to her native county.
And she is thriving!
She opened up about her decision to leave not only Today FM but Dublin as well.
Speaking to Doireann Garrihy on her podcast, Doireann and Friends she said: “Everything has flipped around for the better. I left Today FM in November and I can’t believe it was that long ago. So much seems to have changed and fallen into place in the right way.”
She went on to say: “I would’ve been in Galway a lot, every second weekend if not more. I was going down to Galway and coming back up all of the time.
“I thought everyone did that. Then I realised my sister only comes down once every six or seven weeks, my friends came down maybe only once a month.”
While, of course, it was a tough decision. She knew that it was the right one.

“Leaving Today FM was absolutely the right decision, I didn’t make it lightly. It was a very big decision and I thought about it for a long time but not once have I looked back and thought, ‘Oh sugar, have I done the right thing?’. I absolutely did.
“It was definitely the right choice. I miss everything about it, but I feel much more peaceful I would say.”
Louise Cantillon stepped into the slot in January.
Of course, Doireann will also be leaving her own radio slot with 2FM later this month.
