Devastating news for Penny Dreadful fans today as it was announced that the hit series is coming to an end after just three seasons. The show’s creator, John Logan, confirmed the news on Twitter.
The psychological thriller, which was filmed mostly in Dublin and Wicklow, and has been extremely popular among Irish fans, since it first appeared on our screens. It featured big names such as Josh Hartnett and Eva Green.
The show released the sad news of its demise on social media today by saying, “#ItWasForetold…The three-season opus envisioned by John Logan has come to an end. #Dreadfuls #PennyDreadful.”

The genius behind the show, John Logan, admitted in a farewell video that it was always intended for the show to end after three years.
The vid, which was also posted on social media, features a short statement from John himself and some of the tv drama’s final moments.
“We knew where it was going and where we wanted to end it. It seemed the only place it could end,” John revealed.
