Orlando Bloom is officially embracing his Celtic roots as he applies for an Irish passport.
Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on the UK’s Virgin Radio, the actor, whose grandfather was from Northern Ireland, shared that he wanted to connect with his Irish roots and simplify travel across Europe post-Brexit.
“I’m getting my Irish passport. [My grandfather] was actually from Northern Ireland.”
“And there are a lot of people from the UK who, after a certain political move, found themselves looking for a granny down the back of the couch,” Ryan jokingly replied.

Orlando laughed, adding: “Part of it was actually just for work, like, when I was working in Prague for a while, [there was] a whole bunch of new paperwork.
“And also, I love the fact that I’ve got Irish heritage. That’s all it is.”
This isn’t the first time Orlando has spoken out about his love for our little emerald isle.

“I grew up next to an Irish family who are amazing and are really like my family and took me in,” he shared.
“I’m an Irishman at heart. Actually, I’m more Irish than anything else.”
He then reminisced about singing the Irish folk tune She Moved Through the Fair at the Alma pub in Windsor, back in March 2023, while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with his friend Craig McEvoy.
Ah, we love to see it!
