Olivia Newton-John tragically passed away at the age of 73, with her family confirming the news this week.
The icon of cinema inspired millions of people around the globe and tributes began pouring in for the Australian actress.
Irish stars took to social media to remember the late star who is best known for her role of Sandy in Grease.
Amy Huberman shared a picture of herself with Olivia with the caption: “What a beautiful beautiful person inside and out. Bursting with kindness, fun, brains and talent. Rip ONJ xxxx.”
Sinead O’Carroll from B*witched paid tribute to the star on her Instagram stories, writing: “She impacted generations with her voice.”
Celia Holman Lee posted a picture of the two together and said: “It is with sadness that I learned of the passing of the iconic Olivia Newton-John. I have been a massive fan of her since the 70s and all through the decades.”
Glenda Gilson shared a clip from Grease with the caption: “I used to watch this movie 50 times a day when I was a kid. I loved it and still love it. RIP Olivia Newton-John.”
While Ronan Keating wrote: “Fu*k you breast cancer another family’s heartbroken. Farewell Olivia and thank you for all you gave.”

An official cause of death has not been confirmed, however, Olivia had been once again diagnosed with breast cancer.
Her husband shared the news of her passing on Instagram in a statement which read: “Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.
“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the @onjfoundation
“Olivia is survived by her husband John Easterling; daughter Chloe Lattanzi; sister Sarah Newton-John; brother Toby Newton-John; nieces and nephews Tottie, Fiona and Brett Goldsmith; Emerson, Charlie, Zac, Jeremy, Randall, and Pierz Newton-John; Jude Newton-Stock, Layla Lee; Kira and Tasha Edelstein; and Brin and Valerie Hall.”
