Fans were convinced that Normal People would be returning for a second season.

Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones set the whole world into a tizzy when they teased something would be coming.

However, it turned out to be a charity screening of Normal People rather than a second season.

And we think that event was just as good as a second season.

But fans were still holding out hope that it could in some way return.

Never say never!

However, now Daisy has put to bed any rumours about the show becoming anything more than a mini-series.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she confessed: “No there is no season two that I know of.”

Hope is not lost, as she admitted she would love to return to the character at some point.

“It was really special, I love those characters and that world, I would love to revisit where they are ten years later.”

It comes after Paul discussed what he thinks happened to Connell and Marianne after the end of the book.

“It’s such an interesting question, because I think it changes as you change yourself through life,” he said in a moment that was shared on TikTok.

“When I look back at who I was five years ago, thinking it was all together and then life is just a mad, mad experience! I think my hope for those characters has changed as it’s come along.”

He continued: “I think the connection that they have in that show, and you watch that for 12 episodes, kind of feels spiritual to me.

“I feel like no matter what’s gonna happen with them, they will probably fall in and out of it again but ultimately when they come back I feel like they will land into each other and I hope and in my head that’s what they do.”

Well, we love to hear it, Paul!
