Made In Chelsea star Nicola Hughes has updated fans on her daughter Penelope’s condition following her struggles with hip dysplasia.
The medical condition refers to a hip socket that doesn’t fully cover the ball portion of the upper thighbone. If left untreated it can cause serious issues down the line.
Since Nicola’s daughter was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, she has been wearing a hip brace to help treat her condition. However, updating followers on Penelope’s condition, the model revealed she had made major progress.
Taking to Instagram she wrote: “I’ve been meaning to share my baby girl had her harness off a couple of weeks ago and words can not describe how happy we were when we found out the news.”
“She’s quite weak from the waste down but she’s getting there.”
Sharing her relief, the former Made In Chelsea star continued: “It’s the nicest feeling in the world being able to hold her without a hard plastic harness wrapped around half her body so we’re praying after her next two check ups that she’ll still be progressing well and won’t need surgery.”
Nicola had previously shared just how hard it was to challenging it was to see her daughter restricted by the harness.
As she wrote: “I know it could be a lot worse but it still doesn’t make it any easier. We’ll never get this time back with her”
“Kills me I can’t cuddle her properly.”
So it is a major milestone for the family to see their daughter’s condition improving.
The Dublin native was inundated with support in the comment section.
Fellow MIC alum Ashley James congratulation Nicola and shared her own experience. Saying: “Such good news and also her little rolls. I may have to go through this with Ada, were waiting for her x-ray. So might be coming to you for support and info.”
With Nicola replying: “the rolls 🙈, aw of course! Hope you’re ok xx”
