Congratulations are in order for Nicola Coughlan as the Bridgerton actress has been nominated for a Screening Actors Guild Award.

The Galway girl has been nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series category for her appearance in the beloved Netflix series.

It’s stiff competition for Nicola as she is up against Kathy Bates for Matlock, Allison Janney for The Diplomat, Keri Russell for The Diplomat, and Anna Sawai for Shogun.

Speaking about her nomination, she said: “This is a very lovely early birthday present! I’m absolutely in shock and so honoured thank you.”

And Nicola’s not the only Irish name nominated in the awards.

This year the nomination ceremony, which is usually a live online event, was thrown into chaos due to the wild fires in Los Angeles.

Instead of streaming the event, SAG simply shared the nominations on their website.

Elsewhere, Colin Farrell picked up a nomination for his role in The Penguin just a handful of days after he won his third Golden Globe.

Colin has been nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series category. He is joined by Andrew Scott in the same category.

Yes, the two Irish stars will have to go head to head once again.

While we’re delighted for the three, there were definite snubs on the list.

Saoirse Ronan, who has received critical acclaim for her roles in both The Outrun and Blitz, has been completely overlooked this award season. And that was the case once again at the SAG Awards.

It’s not looking good for Paul Mescal as he was once again snubbed for his role in Gladiator II, which must come as a sting as Russell Crowe won an Oscar for his role in the original.

Cillian Murphy also failed to be nominated for his role in Small Things Like These, the first film he starred in after his Oscar winning role in Oppenheimer.
