Starring in a medical drama is one thing, not to mention starring alongside your husband – which is the case for Irish actress Nimah Algar.
Yes, the Mullingar native is the star of the hit new TV series Malpractice where she plays Lucinda Edwards, a dedicated doctor whose life is derailed when her shift ends in the death of an opioid overdose victim.
The new five-part series has been described as a “cat and mouse thriller” and features the likes of James Purefoy, Brian Bovell and Jordan Kouame.
Also starring in the show is Niamh’s real-life husband, Lorne MacFadyen, who plays Tom Edwards.

Speaking on ITV’s This Morning about what’s like to work with her partner, Niamh revealed: “He is incredible in this series, so that was an amazing opportunity.
“We had always wanted to work together and this opportunity came upon us. His mum is a A&E nurse.”
Niamh went on to explain how both she and Lorne grew up with mothers working within the health service.
Adding: “We understood the strain that can take on a family, because you are giving so much of yourself all day, and then you go home – what else have you got left to give to your kids and partner?
“There was an incredible kind of understanding, so we wanted to approach with as much sensitivity and authenticity as possible.”
TV Viewers may also recognise Lorne for his work on shows such as Grantchester and Tina and Bobby, while Niamh was nominated for both a TV Bafta last year for Deceit and a 2021 film Bafta for Calm With Horses.
Talk about a power couple!
Malpractice is currently being screened by ITV and Virgin Media.
