Niall Horan has opened up about the measures he used to take to avoid being bombarded by fans at the height of One Direction’s fame.
The singer catapulted to fame in 2010 with One Direction on The X Factor, but he found it hard to cope with his new found celebrity status and admits that he used to stay inside to avoid unwanted attention from fans.
“I’ve always been the sort that would stay in the house and not go out with the fear factor of not being able to eat without people asking to take photos and stuff like that.” he told Eoghan McDermott on 2FM.
When the band went on hiatus earlier this year, the Mullingar native packed his bag and travelled around Asia for six months, and he said that he loved being relatively unrecognisable for the time he spent travelling.
“I found that I could get away with a lot more – that trip made me feel like that.” he said.
“It was just me, you (Eoghan) two of my cousins and we just went out about our business like normal tourists and no one really noticed I was there, which I enjoyed.
“I won’t be hiding away from another trip like that because it really made me understand what I can and can’t do.”
