Natalie Portman has revealed she didn’t get to enjoy her time living in Ireland because she was preparing for a role in a major Hollywood film.
The talented actress lived in Belfast in 2009 and during her time there she had to abide by a strict diet and gym regime ahead of filming for The Black Swan.
Unfortunately, her strict regime left no time for her to enjoy Ireland in the same way the film crew did, however, she has vowed to return to our Emerald Isle in the future and embrace everything it has to offer.
“That was such a wasted opportunity and just bad, bad timing,” she told The Irish Sun.
“I was in Ireland, with the best pubs on the planet and all the crew were going out and partying and I was stuck with my steamed chicken, working out at the gym.
“They’d tell me how fun their weekend was and it killed me that I was missing out. It got to a point where I didn’t want to know, it was too painful.
“I promised myself that I would come back, with no work commitments, no scheduling and really enjoy myself.”
Natalie also went on to praise Irish actress Ruth Negga’s performance in historical drama film, Loving.
“Loving is such an important story to tell, given the unfortunate relevance in today’s society.” she said.
“It makes me hopeful and happy that this business is recognising the heightened significance of projects like this and how crucial they are for audiences
“People are definitely talking about Ruth and the extraordinary emotion she conveys and that to me, indicates a rare, powerful talent.”
Ruth’s has been tipped for an Oscar nomination for her impressive performance in Loving.
