Muireann O’Connell has shared how “unbelievably luck” she feels as she begins the hunt to buy her own property. The Ireland AM presenter went on to share her thoughts about the current state of the housing market, as she is aware of how hard it is for most to get on the property ladder

Posting to Instagram stories she she said; “I’m just after seeing a tiny “2 bed” (it’s one bed and a wardrobe) with a starting price of €425,000. I forget I’m on a good wage sometimes cause stuff feels so unattainable and for single people-how the hell can they do this.”

Continuing, she shared how fortunate she feels to be able to look for somewhere to buy; “I realise that I am unbelievably lucky to be in the situation I’m in and that others have it properly bad. Just really interested in who can/ will buy those properties. Hello investment funds.”

The Limerick native is currently renting in Dublin with her partner, who recently popped the question! Although she often keeps her relationship out of the public eye, and refers to her other half as her ‘housemate’ her engagement was revealed on tv by her co-hosts Tommy Bowe and Alan Hughes last year.

Sharing a pic on Instagram, Muireann wrote: “Just how I wanted it to happen; @tommybowe & @alanhughestv announcing my engagement to the world after they finally spotted the ring.”Speaking about her engagement on the show, Muireann revealed: “I got engaged at the weekend. It was very lovely! He was trying to pick a romantic place, we were in the Europe Hotel, and then we were in our favourite hotel in Cromane, but nothing was right.”

“Then I kept inviting my mother everywhere with us this weekend. He’d be like, ‘Come on let’s go for a walk,’ and I’d be like, ‘Mam come on let’s go!’ He took his opportunity when we were standing in the kitchen and I was making a cup of tea. He got down on one knee, and yes, I did cry.”

Before jokingly adding: “It took us years to get here, so the wedding will be in a decade.”
