Muireann O’Connell has always kept her relationship close to her chest.
Speaking on our podcast, VIP Moments, she explained that it is her fiancé, who she jokingly and affectionately refers to as the roommate, wants to keep out of the spotlight.
“An awful lot of people have an issue with the fact I call him the housemate. This is not my decision, that is his decision,” she tells us.
“He doesn’t want his name out there. He doesn’t want to be fodder, he doesn’t want to be on Instagram, he doesn’t want me to be chatting about him on telly. That’s his issue, so I just have to respect that.”
She goes on to joke that she doesn’t have him “locked up in a little box being like, ‘Hi housemate you can never leave this place.'”.
She went on to tell our Editor, Biance Luykx: “He is a very strong man, in his own right. I do think I am very, very lucky in finding someone like him who can put up with a useless fecker like me.”
The Ireland AM host admits that she is “disorganised” and hates planning things like holidays as that “feels like work”.
“So he does all of that. He does all the cooking. I don’t cook at all. He’s amazing. He does meal prepping because I eat quite early in the day because I have to go to bed,” she explains.
“He is truly, truly a wonderful human being.”
She goes on to reveal the thing she loves him for. That he makes her laugh.
“We laugh all the time. I have never laughed with someone more than I do with him. I love that, I love that we laugh together. I love him for that.”
